The E3 Series Shinkansen 1000 Tsubasa is a car that was introduced in 1999 exclusively for the Yamagata Shinkansen. It can run on Shinkansen and conventional lines without changing trains.
In the Shinkansen section, it runs coupled with Tohoku Shinkansen cars.
